What to Expect at Your First Yoga Retreat

The Retreat Experience

A yoga retreat is unlike anything else. It's not a holiday, though you'll feel deeply rested. It's not a bootcamp, though you'll be challenged. It's something in between — a dedicated space to slow down, go inward, and reconnect with yourself.

At Yoga Me Yoga You, our retreats are designed for all levels. Whether you've been practising for years or you've only just found your way to the mat, you'll feel at home.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Morning

  • 7:00am — Gentle wake-up and optional sunrise meditation
  • 7:30am — Herbal tea and light fruit
  • 8:00am — Morning flow class (60–75 minutes)
  • 9:30am — Nourishing breakfast together

Midday

  • Free time — Walk in nature, journal, read, swim, or simply rest
  • 12:30pm — Light lunch with fresh, wholesome ingredients

Afternoon

Evening

  • 6:30pm — Dinner and community time
  • 8:00pm — Optional guided meditation or sound bath

"A retreat isn't about escaping your life. It's about finding the space to return to it with clarity." — Donna Farhi

What Should I Bring?

We provide mats, blocks, and bolsters, but here's a helpful packing list:

  • Comfortable clothing you can move freely in
  • Layers — mornings and evenings can be cool
  • A journal — you'll want to capture your reflections
  • An open heart — leave your expectations at the door
  • Toiletries and sunscreen — the basics
  • A good book — for those blissful free-time hours

Will I Be Good Enough?

This is the question we hear most often, and the answer is always the same: yes. Retreats aren't about performing advanced poses. They're about exploring your practice in a deeper, more spacious way.

The Magic of Disconnecting

One of the most transformative aspects of a retreat is the chance to unplug. No screens, no notifications, no demands on your time. Something shifts when you step away from the daily noise.

What Our Retreat-Goers Say

Emma's Experience

"I was nervous about going alone, but within an hour of arriving I felt like I'd known everyone for years. The combination of yoga, nature, and genuine human connection was exactly what I needed."

David's Experience

"I thought retreats were only for serious yogis. I can barely do a forward fold. But every single moment was accessible and enjoyable."
